On February 20, the NASCAR Cup Series’ 74th season began with the Daytona 500. NASCAR fans will recognize many of the race names and venues. One thing they will notice is that the races start a little later than what fans are used to in recent years. According to Brian Herbst, Senior Vice President of Media and Productions at NASCAR, this is part of the larger goal of increasing audience.
Klay Thompson’s 32 point lead has the Warriors returning to their first Finals since 2019.
In a press release , Herbst stated that “Based on data from the past few years, shifting afternoon starting times back allows more fans — either at home or at track — to enjoy NASCAR racing Sundays.” “In addition, we believe that distributing our content to as many people as possible at key moments of the season is consistent with our strategy of broadcasting as many Cup Series races as possible in a decade on television.”
